World Record Validates the Content-First Commercial Model
This release was issued as part of the WAKE × Thrill Sports U.S. Launch story. It reflects how Wake described this event at the time. The story has since been updated — see the current editorial coverage at the link below.
WAKE Alphatropics partnered with Thrill Sports — parent company of Nitro Circus, Street League Skateboarding, and Power Slap. Cody Matechuk broke his own world record for a snowbike cliff base jump: 450 feet at nearly 50 mph in Golden, British Columbia.
Rather than traditional advertising or paid media buys, WAKE invested in premium content designed for organic reach and social engagement. This marks a deliberate commercial strategy: content over ad spend.
The content strategy follows a repeatable model: world-class athlete, record-setting moment, full multi-platform distribution across the Thrill Sports network.
“This campaign demonstrates how brands can use breakthrough moments to create stronger engagement than traditional marketing channels usually deliver.” — Frank Lamicella, CEO, Thrill Sports. Source: Thrill Sports press release, June 2026.
