Travis Pastrana and Nitro Circus: The Action Sports Media Standard That Preceded the WAKE Activation

Travis Pastrana founded Nitro Circus in 2003. The original concept was a group of professional action sports athletes filming extreme stunt performances for distribution. Over the following decade, Nitro Circus grew into one of the most-recognized action sports media brands globally, producing live arena tours, filmed specials, and branded content across motocross, FMX, BMX, and snowboard disciplines.
The Nitro Circus brand established the production and audience infrastructure that Thrill Sports now operates. Thrill Sports functions as the production entity for Nitro Circus-distributed content. When Thrill Sports produced the Cody Matechuk world record stunt for WAKE Alphatropics in August 2026, it was distributing through an audience built across twenty-plus years of Nitro Circus content development.
Pastrana is a decorated athlete: multiple X Games gold medals in moto X skills and rally, and multiple Guinness World Records. His role in building the Nitro Circus brand positioned it as the credibility anchor for extreme stunt activations of the type WAKE commissioned for its U.S. market entry.
